About Us
†
At Doxa Clothing our aim is to be a Christ-driven lifestyle/streetwear brand that represents our faith and shares the love of God. We make no attempt to hide or mask who we are, we simply love God, love life and love people! The inspirational verse that birthed Doxa Clothing comes from Philippians 4:13, ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me’.
Where We Began
The idea of a Christian Clothing brand started in the summer of 2008 when we (Ben and Josh) were in America coaching football. Sitting on the deck area of a house in Rochester Hills MI we filled our mind with the idea of creating an ethical and Christ driven brand. In fact I think what was said was:
“I don’t want to be walking around in TOPMAN clothes, that a) everyone has & b) Hasn’t been made in a fair manner”
A few weeks later we went to visit a friend, whose cousin’s fiance’s mum’s best friend was printing tees . . . . and we thought what a cracking idea. (Okayyy not true) We visited a friend whose housemate was ‘Screenprinting’ tshirts from home and selling them in his college shop!! We guessed that Josh with his mediocre design skills and lack of motivation, and Ben with his passion for accounts and ‘lets get it done skills’, could make a good team. Therefore upon returning home from the USA we set about gathering equipment and in January 2009 we began to print on a few t-shirts in a small warehouse we had been lent.
We didn’t want to print on cheap and nasty tees that had been made in sweatshops. We wanted to be part of a change within the clothing industry and represent what we believe.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi
So we started printing on ethically sourced tees that were all part of the fair wear foundation.
The Name Doxa
We didn’t actually start with the name Doxa. We started with ‘RySt’ . . . .’Ry’ for Ryan and ‘St’ for Stannard . . .yeah enough said! Thankfully, Ollie Ryan (Brother of Ben) plucked out a wonderful Greek word – Doxa . Doxa is Greek for ‘glory’. We prayed about it and it felt so right and thus Doxa Clothing began. (The Image top right, was our first logo)
Steadfast and Dapper
Our first and flagship design was that of Steadfast and Dapper. Steadfast in faith and dapper in dress. Who says Christian’s all wear socks and sandals and mooch about in suits and have nothing that relates them to todays culture? These were all things that I used to think in my closed off world haha. But yeah basically this is what kicked Doxa off, and over the last couple of years people have really seemed to love the steadfast and dapper tees. They are iconic, simple and just say so much.

Where we are now . . .
Since we made an attempt at printing in a warehouse, things have moved on.
As we have grown (slowly but surely) we have been able to add features to our garments. We use eco-friendly screenprinters to print the designs and they print a little lable inside the neck and then we add little Doxa beauties like the sewn on tags, giving that extra dabble of quality.
We bring out a monthly newsletter which has a strong following and along with this we aim to bring out a new product every month or so, again telling some kind of story about our faith.
Where we (may) be going . . . the dream
We are constantly seeking new ways and new opportunities at Doxa Clothing. It is our belief that Doxa is to be much more than just a clothing brand. We started Doxa because we wanted to be an agent of change. We wanted to share the story of God through what we did. It is our desire to branch out into as many areas as we feel right to do so. Many of you know the links we have with places like St Monicah’s in Kenya. We simply want to see Doxa clothing grow to enable us to help others and develop new projects and ministries.
We would love for example to have a Doxa Coffee House and a Doxa shop. We would love to be producing and selling products from Africa through our work at St Monicah’s in Kenya. This would help us to show exactly where products come from and would enable you as the consumers to see that when you buy with Doxa, you are investing in people and places that really need it. We would love to be supporting many missions and ministries through our work at Doxa.

Simply, we want Doxa to be all that it can be, to achieve all that it can achieve and to reflect the glory of God in all that does!
Where we will end up, we don’t know, where we will adventure next, we are not sure but thank you for visiting Doxa Clothing and we look forward to you being part of the Doxa dream.
(p.s. Crazy Dreams: Have Doxa stocked in numerous countries, Run mission trips and gap year programs, employ our friends and family, see multitudes come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!)
